1st week home

Ben has had an eventful first week home! He has been to the doctor, church, Target, and Chili's! Ben likes to be out on the town and is very well-behaved! :) He has loved meeting so many of you and is looking forward to meeting the rest of you soon!
Watching the Auburn-LSU game with Daddy... too bad they lost!

Aren't I cute in my Auburn gear? :)

Ben went to church on Sunday - the rose on the altar was in honor of his birth. He was so good - didn't make a peep the whole time!

Pondering life...

Out to lunch with Mommy and Daddy at Chili's!

Ben's first bath - not his favorite thing!

I think the bath traumatized him!!!

GG bought him a cupcake in honor of his one week birthday - Mommy and Daddy enjoyed eating it for him!

First shopping trip - Target!

Ben likes hanging out in his carseat! :)

Welcome Benjamin!

A family of three!

Ben chilling in his "tanning booth" aka jaundice treatment! He was hamming it up for the nurses - the experience was more traumatic for Mommy than for Ben!

Look at that smile!

Let's get out of here!

Finally going home!

Here he is!

Check out that hair!

So tired but so joyful!

Eddie is a natural father! He is great at swaddling and diaper changes! Ben loves to snuggle with his daddy!

Ben is hanging out in his hospital bassinet!

What a surprise! Eddie and I welcomed our beautiful son Benjamin Edward on Wednesday September 10 at 7:22 pm. Ben arrived exactly one month ahead of schedule - I guess he was so excited to meet us that he couldn't wait any longer! Ben is tiny but mighty - he weighs 4 lbs 15 oz and is 17.5 inches long. He is very strong! My water broke at 5:00 in the morning and we ended up having a C-section, due to some drops in Ben's heart rate (he didn't handle the internal fetal monitors very well) and because he was "sunny-side up" in the womb (babies should be looking at the floor). Both of those factors made the doctors wary of a vaginal delivery and we decided a C-section was the best way to go. We were released from the hospital on Monday - we stayed an extra day because Ben developed a case of jaundice and since he was a preemie, the doctors wanted to keep an eye on him for an extra day. He had to hang out under the lights, which we called his tanning bed (check out the picture!). Being in the hospital during Hurricane Ike was interesting - we were without power there for almost 24 hours (we had 2 emergency pumps in the room - one for my bed, one for the breast pump). It was very eerie, but it makes a good story to tell Ben when he is older! When we finally got home Monday, we had no power, so we stayed at my mom's for the first night. Power finally came back on on Tuesday around 9:00 at night so we FINALLY got to sleep in our own bed after nearly a week.

We are so thankful to God for this beautiful blessing. Thank you to everyone for keeping us in your prayers. Ben is doing great and we can't wait for everyone to meet him! Enjoy the pictures!
